Commercial Design and Consulting

Urban Spaces Design has worked with a variety of wineries, including Tin Horn Creek, Calona Vineyards, Sandhill Wines, and Andrew Peller, either in developing new looks for their Retail Stores or in developing marketing materials for promotional purposes.

A Refreshed Look

In this case we were asked in as Retail Consultants first, and then later to develop a more up-to-date retail store and facility for Calona Vineyards winery in Kelowna, British Columbia. Established in 1932, Calona Vineyards has the distinction of being BC’s original winery.

A new colour palette was developed, new fixtures for their giftware, new cherry wood cabinetry for the wines and a brand new look for their tasting room. There were really interesting architectural features within this space, which we were able to highlight with contrasting paint colours. We chose wonderful creams, leaf greens, cabernet tones and rich reds reminiscent of the wines. The original flooring of thick slabs of British Columbia’s grey slate were kept.

Merchandising and More

Once these changes were made, the store was merchandised.  Urban Spaces Design’s team came up regularly to change the decorative theme and to re-merchandise the space.

In the tasting room we resurfaced the bar with a custom stainless steel checkerboard type finish. It remains today.
